ClickTrain is a forum for the discussion of the real life application of Operant Conditioning, particularly Clicker Training. Though the list stays pretty well on topic, a variety of information and various training methods are covered. The list is not moderated, but is monitored; mostly to keep things flowing smoothly. The list is filtered to eliminate Spam, HTML/Rich Text, and attachments (thus eliminating the treat of viruses).

Clicktrain is sometimes a high volume list, so if your email space is limited you may prefer the digest form. Digest subscribers will see the same posts as the single post subscribers, but the digest form posts are grouped together before being sent, usually once per day

The ClickTrain list is owned by M. Shirley Chong. Shirley has been training dogs for over 15 years, and spent part of her youth training and riding horses.

There are four rules and one strong owner preference for the list. Violation of the rules is as interpreted by the list owner (me) and there is no one else to appeal to. Violations will be dealt with in a variety of ways as I see fit.

Rule 1: no flaming or baiting on the list. Flaming is a synonym for making a post that can be easily foreseen to elicit angry replies. Baiting is much the same except that it is a personal or group attack (an attack on "Jane Dog Trainer" or "all clicker trainers." Passionate or even heated discussions are welcome and can be held without flaming or baiting.

Rule 2: no offering of live animals for sale. I don't want to do anything to encourage puppy millers and I believe there are many forums available for the advertising of puppies for sale from responsible breeders.

Rule 3: Any post sent to ClickTrain is eligible to be used on the Keepers website:

http://www.shirleychong.com/keepers

By posting to ClickTrain, it is assumed that each writer is granting permission for the post to be used on the Keepers page. We try to ask permission privately from each writer for each specific post used but we're human, we make mistakes.

Rule 4: please respect the copyright of each writer to the list. This means that posts from ClickTrain should not be posted to any other venue except the Keepers page without explicit permission from the writer of the post.

Strong owner preference: ClickTrain is a group of individuals and is a forum where real life concerns and issues are shared. To encourage us to remember that we are real people, not just nicks on a screen in a roleplay, I greatly prefer that people use their full name at the end of each post. For the purposes of this list, full name means the usual name that people know you by. For instance, my full name is Meesoon Shirley Chong and I usually use my second name; I sign my posts "M. Shirley Chong."
